I came in for brunch and honestly wasn’t expecting anything out of the ordinary, but the dishes here are on a different level. The flavors were balanced, fresh, and genuinely satisfying. What surprised me the most was how relaxed it felt despite being busy. The staff were warm and attentive without hovering, and the whole experience had a calm and pleasant vibe that made me want to take my time instead of rushing.

So when we returned to Romania this year, now expecting our first child, we both knew exactly where our first brunch had to be.

We came back for the vibe, the food, and especially for those famous goufre my wife had been craving. She didn’t eat anything sweet the whole day just so she could enjoy them again. We had a lovely brunch as always, calm atmosphere, friendly faces, and the kind of food that makes you slow down without trying. When we finished, we happily said we were ready for the goufre... and that’s when the waiter gently told us they had removed them from the menu because they had recently reintroduced pancakes instead.

My wife, eight months pregnant, almost had her eyes fall to the floor from pure disappointment. The waiter saw her expression immediately, and with so much kindness, he recommended a place in town where we could find good goufre. We appreciated the suggestion, and we asked for the check, accepting that things like this happen.

But right after we paid, something unexpected happened. The staff came back to our table with a warm smile and told us to wait just a moment. What we didn’t know is that one of the employees had literally run out of the restaurant minutes earlier. I noticed him leaving quickly, but I never imagined why.

He had gone to buy a brand-new waffle maker just so they could make the goufre especially for my wife.

When he walked back in holding a box, I had no idea it was for us. And seeing them come out at the end, freshly made, just for her it was one of those moments that stops you. My wife was so happy she was almost in tears. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her that touched by a gesture from strangers.

They even told us they hadn’t brought the goufre earlier because they didn’t want us to feel pressured to leave a big tip for the effort. They wanted it to be a genuine surprise, not something transactional.

The next two days, of course, we came back again. At this point, how could we not? We had to “put that new waffle maker to work,” as we joked with them. It felt like going back to childhood, when your grandparents would magically find a way to get you that one thing you were craving, even when it seemed impossible.

There’s no way to describe how it felt to see my wife so genuinely happy, especially this close to meeting our little boy. I’m sure even he felt the joy through her. We promised the team that once the baby is born and we’re allowed to fly with him, we’ll come straight here for brunch and, of course, for the goufre. They told us they would keep the waffle maker safely in its box until we return.

I’ve traveled a lot, eaten in countless places across Europe and beyond, but no restaurant has ever shown us this kind of kindness. This review is only a small gesture compared to what they did for us.
